The Client
Yellowyoyo was established in 1998 and is a business, brand and marketing company with a difference. Working with a range of clients from ambitious start-ups to global organisations, Yellowyoyo have challenged and transformed businesses through a combination of strategy, brand, design and marketing – steering their growth, legacy and often exit.
The Challenge
As part of their targeted marketing strategy, Yellowyoyo reached out to Goldings Communications to identify potential PR activities to help raise awareness among key target groups of their work and impact on clients and the wider community.
The Solution – raising the profile through awards
Following a discovery session with our Goldings Communications team, Yellowyoyo agreed the way forward was through our Awards Strategy package.
Successful award submissions help organisations gain exposure, enhance their brand perception, and validate their market position. However, finding the right programmes takes time and effort, which is where we come in.
This package included:
- In depth discovery session to discuss and understand Yellowyoyo’s vision, values and business objectives.
- Careful research into relevant local and national awards programmes.
- Creation of a bespoke list of awards covering the next 12 months, including a summary of why they were relevant, deadlines, category options and recommendations.
- Advice, support and discussion around which programmes they could enter.
Moving forward, Yellowyoyo decided to enter two categories at the Milton Keynes Business Achievement Awards 2023 – Best Small & Medium Sized Business and Design and Creativity. This was a two-stage application process, and Yellowyoyo asked Goldings to take responsibility for both entries with our Awards Writing package.
Entering awards is an extremely time consuming and complex process, with strict entry criteria deadlines and word limits. Luckily we have extensive experience writing award entries for a variety of clients across a number of diverse sectors.
Working together we gathered the required information and evidence, wrote and submitted the first stage application. Successfully shortlisted for the second stage, we repeated the process – helping to earn Yellowyoyo a much coveted place in the final!
The Outcome – a WIN!
Attending the Award Ceremony alongside some incredible Milton Keynes businesses, Yellowyoyo were up against tough competition in both categories, but were absolutely overjoyed to win best Small & Medium Sized Business Award on the night.
Amanda Wright, Creative Director at Yellowyoyo said:
“I had heard of Goldings Communications and had met the owner and director Kim through networking, watching with interest as she elevated the visibility and therefore reputation of others. So when it came to having a bit of help writing an awards submission for Yellowyoyo, Goldings sprang to mind immediately.
They were so easy to deal with and got the brief straight off, which meant that what was delivered was at all times high quality, efficiently handled and prompt.
Of course we had the raw material for the award submission, but working together with the team meant we had the confidence that Goldings had our back – our faith in their experience, advice and guidance made such a difference.
Consequently, their assistance resulted in two successful finalist positions and a win. Proof of the pudding right there.”
