The Client

Established by Lorraine and Lee Lewis in 2016, The Lewis Foundation was formed to provide gifts, comfort and happiness to cancer patients undergoing treatment.

After living through four plus years of hospital visits when Lee’s mum had cancer, Lorraine and Lee understood first-hand the challenges, upset and loneliness individuals and their loved ones faced.

With a team of almost 50 volunteers and hundreds of regular supporters, The Lewis Foundation now works closely with 17 hospitals in the Midlands to hand-deliver thousands of gift packs each week. Packs contain overnight essentials and toiletries, letter writing kits, miniature radios complete with batteries and headphones, and lots more – and for some patients The Lewis Foundation volunteers are their only visitors.

The Challenge

Raising awareness of the charity and the work it does is crucial to its long-term success in terms of support, donations and partnerships. The Lewis Foundation needed a public relations partner which could execute targeted PR campaigns to help establish the charity on a much wider and even national scale.

The Solution

Our Goldings Communications team have been working with The Lewis Foundation since early 2021 in the following key areas:

Media – From Christmas campaigns to the launch of their new charity shop, we employ a carefully planned and targeted media relations strategy to achieve regular coverage in a variety of regional and national publications, radio and television.

Thanks to our support, some of the publications The Lewis Foundation has gained coverage in includes BBC News, ITV Anglia, GB News, HELLO! and lots more. Each time boosting the profile of the charity and often generating more support from individuals and businesses.

Events – We provide operational and promotional support for a variety of events organised by the Foundation such as:

Strategic storytelling & partnerships – We have crafted a number of brochures, fliers, website copy and case studies to showcase The Lewis Foundation. We have also facilitated or supported various corporate partnerships and projects such as the Surplus Stock Appeal and Christmas Appeal, providing advice and ideas to enhance the campaigns.

Trustee – Our director Kim joined the charity as a trustee in 2022 – our way of giving back in a meaningful way as a company. In this role she attends monthly meetings with the other trustees and makes important decisions about the direction and strategy of The Lewis Foundation.

The Outcome

It is an absolute pleasure to work with The Lewis Foundation and we have loved watching them grow. We can’t wait to see what the future holds!

Lorraine Lewis, Co-Founder of The Lewis Foundation said:

“Goldings Communications has been an incredible support with PR for The Lewis Foundation. Having regular media coverage online and in print is key to raising awareness and funds for The Lewis Foundation.

I love how the team is always proactive in securing opportunities for us, which has resulted in us not only securing publicity locally, but also regionally and nationally. They are always on hand for advice and support, turning around media requests for us promptly and genuinely care about the work we do.

It really has helped The Lewis Foundation stand out as a charity. This means we can do more good and help even more people who are diagnosed with cancer in our local community. Goldings Communications are an amazing part of The Lewis Foundation, and we love working with them.”
